Profile: Dr. Alfons Weisenburger, is working at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (former FZK) since 1994.
Diploma in mechanical engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in 1993.
From 1993 to 1995 as Junior Scientist at the Institute for Neutron Physics and Reactor Technology (INR) at the FZK.
From 1995 to 1999 Ph.D. thesis on production of nanocrystalline materials using pulsed power methods at the University of Karlsruhe, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Since 2001 involved in surface modification of materials using pulsed electron beams and in investigations related to liquid metal corrosion at the Institute for Pulsed Power and Microwave Technology (IHM).
Since 2006 Group Leader of the Section ´Surface Technologies and liquid metal corrosion´ at KIT/IHM and WP and task leader of different EU FP6&FP7 projects.
Since 2017 spokesperson for liquid metal CSP related research at KIT.
Involved in several EU funded projects as GEMMA and ILTROVATORE and co-initiator of HEAFNA EERA-JPNM Pilot Project, and member of OECD-NEA expert group on liquid metals (EGCoCoT) and innovative structural materials (EGISM).
